No fewer than three persons have been confirmed dead while three others are being hospitalized in the Oke-Gada area of Ede North Local Government Area of Osun State as a result of an unknown ailment.
Pensioners’ FM gathered that the affected persons were beggars who often stay around the area.
The community was thrown into confusion by the incident as some residents were suspecting food poisoning.
A resident who simply identified himself as Tade said about 12 beggars had been hospitalized while others died.
In a telephone conversation, however, the spokesperson of Nigeria Police, Osun State Command, Mrs. Yemisi Opalola dismissed the claim of food poisoning.
Mrs. Opalola explained that the Divisional Police Officer of Ede had visited the Seriki Hausa in the community who informed him that it was a Cholera outbreak and not food poisoning.
