Public Health Expert Calls For Increased Number Of Environmental Inspectors

Former President of the Association of Public Health Physicians of Nigeria, Professor Tanimola Akande, has urged the Federal and State Governments to increase the current number of health inspectors in order to reduce the spread of lassa fever.

Professor Akande, in an interview, said that the increasing incidence of lassa fever in most states is worrisome and required concerted effort.

He also pointed out that inadequate amount of health officials is not good for the country’s size.

Professor Akande explained that the population and numbers of houses have increased significantly, hence the need for an increased health work force.
