Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Police has arrested an armed robbery suspect operating in Civil Defense Uniform.

According to a statement by the command Spokesman, Mr. Abimbola Oyeyemi, the suspect Adeolu Bankole of Idagba Quarter in Ayetoro had been using Civil Defense Corps uniform to carry out robbery operations before the arrest after a complaint.

Mr. Oyeyemi said some students of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ayetoro Campus had reported at Ayetoro Area Command that they were robbed of their belongings at gunpoint by an armed robber dressed in Civil Defense uniform and dispossessed them of their phones and laptop.

He stated that a painstaking investigation was carried out leading to the hideout where a bag containing six phones, one laptop, a pair of civil defense uniform and a locally made pistol was recovered and the suspect arrested.

Mr. Oyeyemi explained that the complainants have identified the suspect while the civil defense officer from whom the suspect stole the uniform had also reported to the Nigeria Police who revealed that the suspect set his car ablaze after stealing the uniform.
