Police Public Relations Officer in Oyo State, Mr. Olugbenga Fadeyi has confirmed the death of an Okada rider crushed to death by a tanker at Liberty area of Ibadan.

According to witnesses, the tanker lost control due to brake failure while coming from Molete and swung his hand to the incoming vehicles, ramming into a commercial motorcyclist.

The driver of the tanker was said to have escaped the scene immediately for the fear of being lynched from mob action.

Our correspondent reports that the lifeless body of the deceased was seen on the floor as other motorcyclists were dragging with some policemen not to take him away, waiting for his family to do a burial rite.

Though, the police were at the scene to calm down the tensed atmosphere as angry sympathizers were gradually gathering to prevent breakdown of law and order.

However, Mr. Olugbenga Fadeyi said the command is on top of the situation.
