OYO IPAC Moves To Curb Electoral Apathy

Public Relations Officer of the Inter Party Advisory Council, IPAC, Oyo State, Pastor Abiodun Popoola says the Council will work hard to stem the tide of political apathy in the country.

Pastor Popoola said, to achieve this, IPAC will embark on massive sensitization and mobilization of the electorate at the grassroots.

Speaking on Pensioners’ FM’s midweek political programme, The Searchlight, Pastor Popoola emphasized that poverty and illiteracy are largely responsible for electoral vices like vote buying and selling as well as ballot box snatching

He said Oyo IPAC is taking the initiative of organizing a summit where major stakeholders will brainstorm on how to curb the challenges posed by vote buying and selling, as well other ills during elections.

Pastor Popoola, who is also the Assistant Organizing Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Oyo State, maintained that free, fair, inclusive and acceptable election is the beauty and bedrock of any democracy.

Pastor Popoola, who described the forthcoming general election as critical for sustainable democracy in Nigeria, expressed strong belief that credible elections are possible in Nigeria.
