Ninety percent work on the famous Olubadan Stadium Iyaganku, Ibadan project embarked upon by the Oyo state government is nearing completion.
Pensioners FM was on fact finding mission to ascertain the level of work at the venue, reports that the sandy pitch used to be unfriendly to players is now wearing greenish turf.
The current Olubadan stadium can accommodate seven hundred and fifty spectators at the popular stand with dressing room for players and match officials, while state box and cover seat were not left behind.
As at the time of filing this report, turf for the five-A-side game is almost in completion.
Vice-chairman Ibadan Football Association, Coach Idowu Akintola showered encomium on Engr. Seyi Makinde-led administration for considering Olubadan stadium that has suffered neglect by the past administration.
“I am very delighted because many regime have come and gone, nobody paid attention to the third or second stadium in Nigeria. We are very grateful to our Governor for the wonderful job he has done at Olubadan Stadium. There is nobody that will come here that will not feel happy and be proud that this is Olubadan Stadium”.
A former player of soccer ambassadors turned coach, Mukaila Ajala urged stakeholders to ensure millions of naira expended on the project will be properly used.
“As one of the Ambassadors, I have been here and now their team manager, we have to thank the Governor of Oyo State for the good work he is doing to uplift the face of the Stadium”.
The famous Olubadan stadium Ibadan has produced clubs, players, coaches, referees and administrators for over 80 years.
