Again, suspected Fulani killer-herdsmen have allegedly killed four villagers in Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The suspected herdsmen reportedly laid an ambush for the villagers on Owode Ketu – Ijoun – Tata road and killed them.
The victims: Isiaka Apesin, Oguntosin Adebayomi and two others were killed in the ambush by the killer-herdsmen who attacked the villagers in the hours of Thursday.
It has been reported that Yewa, in Ogun West Senatorial District, Ogun State, has been under attacks by suspected killer-herdsmen who have been laying siege on communities in the district.
A farmer identified as Dele Olowoniyi faced the same fate while sleeping in his farm settlement at Oha village, Imeko, in Imeko-Afon Local Government Area of Ogun state.
Confirming the incident, a resident of the village, told newsmen that two villagers were killed in the ambush by the killer-herdsmen.
He said “herders went to lay an ambush for people in my village, Owode-Ketu around 5am in the morning. Two corpses of locals have been found. Herders laid an ambush for locals on Owode Ketu – Ijoun – Tata Road around same time and killed two people. Police from Eggua have evacuated the corpses.”
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi could not be reached for reaction as at the time of filing this report.
Meanwhile, two leaders of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Gboyega Nasir Isiaka and Wahab Egungbohun, a Lawmaker representing Ketu Constituency (II) in Yewa North of the state, have condemned the incident.
The two men called on the State government to, as a matter of urgency, direct security agencies to the zone in order to stop the crisis.
