Muslims need to unite and form themselves into Change Agents by promoting virtues of morality, as well as taking active part in the 2023 elections towards electing credible leaders that will usher a New Dawn for Nigeria.
This was the agreement of Speakers and Participants at the 2022 Muslim Media Practitioners’ MMPN, Oyo State Chapter, Ramadan lecture held in Ibadan.
Delivering the Lecture titled “2022 General Election, The Role of Muslims” Founder, Shafaudeen in Islam, Professor Sabit Olagoke said Muslims should not be passive actors in the Nation`s Political Arena, during the coming Elections Across the Country.
“Politics must start for a Muslim at the home front, whereby you improve your credibility and understanding of the Concept of Islam as a service to Humanity for God, Then the community, Muslims must try as much as possible to join Political Parties”
The Erudite Scholar also stressed the need for moral Training so as to overcome poverty, which he described as the instrument being used by politicians to deceive the masses during election.
In a goodwill message, the Arole Iba Oluyole of Ibadan Land, Alhaji Nureni Akanbi called for the Election of the right leaders who are ready to work and address Myriads of Challenge Confronting the Country.
Welcoming the participants to the programme, Chairman, Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria, Oyo state Chapter, Alhaji Ridwan Fasasi, challenged Traditional and Religious Leaders against giving titles to individuals with questionable character, re-echoing the importance of unity among Muslims as the 2023 elections get near.
He said “Muslims have duties to play now by being active participants in mobilizing and sensitizing others for all the electoral activities including Collections of Permanent Voters cards, PVCs, joining political Parties, involving in Political Dawaah and ensuring the support of their own people”.
Some dignitaries at the Annual Ramadan Lecture were, Director of Research and Documentation, Mr. Abdulfatai Oyedeji who represented Oyo State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism Dr. Wasiu Olatunbosun and General Manager, Pensioners` FM, Dr. Babatunde Tiamiyu.
