For the broadcast industry to be the game-changer for a new Nigeria there is a need for media professionals to set agenda for the government’s actions which should be devoid of propaganda.

An educationist, Dr. Fola Akinosun stated this in a lecture to commemorate this year’s World Radio Day.

Speaking on the topic, “Reinventing Nigeria, the Roles of Radio and other Broadcast Media”, Dr. Akinosun advised broadcast stations to redouble their efforts at disseminating information that are truthful, unbiased and progressive.

Reacting to the recent crises at Shasha market and Ibarapa, the educationist appealed to broadcasters to jettison fake news and avoid over blowing of issues especially during crises.

Dr. Akinosun urged broadcasters not to be silent but professional on matters that could jeopardize the progress of Nigeria.
