Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has disclosed that a college of Agriculture and Natural Sciences would be established in Iseyin this year as a campus of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH).

He disclosed this when he received the report of the state negotiation committee on LAUTECH with the mandate to dissolve the joint ownership of LAUTECH between Oyo and Osun states about fifteen months ago.

Governor Makinde restated that divorcing with Osun State on LAUTECH was based on the desire for LAUTECH to realise its vision of being a world class university than animosity and applauded Governor Gboyega Oyetola of Osun State for reasoning beyond partisan politics.

The governor noted that the state would apply to necessary authorities to change LAUTECH from a technology university to a conventional university to handle other humanity related courses and assured the negotiation committee on LAUTECH to explore recommendations in the report to enable the university to perform optimally.

Earlier, Chairman of the Negotiation Committee, Professor Ayodeji Omole said in line with its mandate, the committee consulted with stakeholders in Ogbomosho, Osogbo and other interest groups within and outside the university to reflect the concerns of all.

Professor Omole said assets valuation and forensic audits report uncovered a lot about LAUTECH.

He therefore appealed for implementation of recommendations in the report for the improvement of LAUTECH.
