Pensioners under the aegis of Nigeria Union of Pensioners Retired Primary School Teachers in Ibadan south East Local Government of Oyo State have held a Special Solidarity rally to appreciate Governor Seyi Makinde for changing their welfare narratives better than he met it.
The Pensioners who put on good attires were beaming with smiles of joy while taking turns to eulogize the man they called true friend of workers and Senior citizens.
Chairman of the group Alhaji Ismail Akinsola in a Solidarity Speech, commended Governor Makinde for keeping the promise he made to pensioners during his inaugural address on May 29,2019 when he took over the administration of Oyo State.
Alhaji Akinsola, further “appreciated Governor Makinde for fulfilling all his promise made since his assumption of duty by making sure all owed pensions are paid, and for also treating pensioners in the state well”.
Alhaji Akinsola also spoke glowingly about the leadership of Nigeria Union of Pensioners, NUP, Oyo State Council under , it’s chairman, Alh. Isiaka Abolade and the Executive Secretary, Comrade Olusegun Abatan, for always championing the cause of the members and all round development of the union.
On his part the Oyo State NUP Primary School Teachers Wing Treasurer Comrade Stephen Fadare assured members that talks have reached high levels on issues concerning pension arrears, gratuities, Harmonization and consequential adjustment of pensions.
Comrade Fadare, said “the essence of the meeting is to commend the Governor Makinde led administration for paying all Pension arrears as at when due”.
Other branch chairmen from the remaining 10 Local Governments in Ibadan who were also part of rally thanked the governor for prioritizing the welfare of the elderly.
The rally was concluded with special prayers for Governor Seyi Makinde, Oyo NUP and its leadership, as well as for peace in Oyo State and Nigeria as another general election approaches.
