Governor Seyi Makinde has lauded members of the 2021 Batch A Stream Two of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, for their meritorious service to their fatherland during their one year mandatory service.

Represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Mr Seun Fakorede, at the passing out ceremony of the corps members, the governor said it has become imperative for the corps members to make good use of the vocational skills they acquired during their service year.

He noted that the government alone could not provide the white-collar jobs to meet the demands of young graduates.

The governor also urged them to eschew all forms of vices and stay true to the principles of hard work, discipline and other virtues they imbibed during their school and service years.

“I want you Corpers to make use o f the vocational training given you during the One year service for your good and be loyal in any situation you meet yourself”

Earlier, NYSC Coordinator in Oyo State, Mrs Grace Ogbuogebe, explained that the NYSC had collaborated with some financial institutions such as the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, as well as banks of industry and of agriculture in a bid to ensure that corps members have unhindered access to loans to help them with their businesses.

“The instituted skill acquisition and enterprises development SAED, the encouragement is for them to put the training into practice, because we cannot provide job for almost Four Thousand Corps members and that they should not just go home and sit down”.

Some of the corps members expressed joy over their passing out, saying the experience is good for their development.

“Nothing much to say than to actualize the aims and objectives of the NYSC bodies which is about the coming together of different ethnics to conceptualize with ourselves”.

“Though stressful but it’s worth it. It’s always been my dream to work in a media organization and thank God for making it possible for me. All thanks to Pensioners FM for giving me the privilege to work with them”.

4, 754 corps members passed out in the 2021 Batch A Stream Two in Oyo State.

The event, which was held at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan, attracted heads of security agencies, traditional rulers and members of the public.
