The venue of the lecture came alive with guests and staff of the radio station adorning the theme colour of the event-white and Blue as rhythm from traditional drums known as Gangan added colour to the event.

While commending Oyo State Government for taking the welfare of the senior citizens seriously, the guest lecturer urged it not to relent in its effort.
He also used the occasion to condemn the killing of Deborah Samuel in Sokoto saying, is it not part of the Islamic doctrine to shed blood in the name of fighting for the Holy Prophet.
“It is very unfortunate that in our society we twist things and good enough the number one Muslim in the country has condemned it. And since the Sultan of Sokoto has spoken, that is the stance of Islam on the issue
Also speaking, Mother of the Day, Senator Sunmonu, urged governments at all levels not to joke with the welfare of the elderly.
““We all know that Governor Makinde managed to clear all the arrears of Pensioners, both their gratuities and by virtue of that, we know that all pensioners are able to live their own lives and even assisting their grandchildren everywhere which is a pride, it’s a joy for anybody to appreciate the present government”
In a remark, Oyo NUP Secretary, Comrade Olusegun Abatan, who doubles as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Pensioners’ FM, said the reason for the Post Ramadan lecture was to tell the general public their responsibility to the elderly in the society.
“I believe that on a daily basis people are not getting any younger so it is advisable for the aged to socialize and eat well as this will enable them to live long without falling sick”
Earlier, Pensioners FM’ General Manager, Dr Babatunde Tiamiyu, thanked the guests and promised to keep the flag of the radio station flying.
Highlight of the event was the presentation of awards to some individuals who have contributed in numerous ways to the growth of Pensioners FM.
“”Alhamdullilahi that some people feel that I deserve the award, Alhamdullilahi the pensioner FM they are doing good and should not relent from doing good, they should try and intensify the programme particularly to the government and to be continuously serving the retirees”
As Pensioners FM awaits another Ramadan lecture next year, it is hoped that in line with this year’s theme of Making Old Age Sweet, the society will take a cue from the lecture and improve the lot of the senior citizens.
