The customary procession usually held by Christians to mark the Palm Sunday was not held in Ibadan.
Pensioners’ FM correspondent who went round the metropolis reports that the suspension of the carnival-like procession was in adherence to the COVID-19 protocols but however some churches displayed the palm fronds with cross sign in their premises and inside the cathedral.
At various services monitored, Christians observed COVID-19 protocols during Palm Sunday celebration in Ibadan, the worshippers sang songs of victory with palm fronds in their hands and neck to herald the Palm Sunday service as the sermon centered on love, peace, kindness and selflessness towards one another.
Reverend Father Mark Shimave of St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Mokola urged Nigerians to shun inhumane acts and be kind to one another.
In the same vein, the priest in charge of St Matthias Anglican Church, Orogun ibadan, Venerable Samuel Olawoyin, admonished political leaders to see themselves as God’s vessels and rule with fear of God.
On his part, Prophet Solomon Oke of C.A.C, True Disciples, Alabidun, Alakia, Ibadan advised Nigerians to discard the temptation of ethnic separation saying there is blessing in unity.
Pastor Adeniji also called on political gladiators not to heat up the polity.
