The Commander, 32 Artillery Brigade Nigerian Army, Owena Cantonment, Brigadier General Raymond Utsaha has received his first dose of AstraZeneca (COVID-19 vaccine) at the Headquarters 32 Artillery Brigade Akure, following the kick-off of the first phase of the vaccination for health workers and frontline public servants.
While receiving the vaccine, he charged officers, men and the barrack community to avail themselves the opportunity and to follow the necessary guidelines in order to defeat the virus which has infected over 190 million people globally since December 2019.
The commander appreciated the Ondo State Government for making the barrack community worthy to have the vaccine.
In his remark, Representative of Ondo State Primary Health Care Development, Dr. Adeyemi Osowe disclosed that the AstraZeneca vaccine arrived in Nigeria some weeks ago.
The doctor, who said the vaccine will be administered in two doses, said the first dose will be administered while the second will be administered 12 weeks after, speaking further, he said that the vaccine is 80 percent effective against the virus and 100 percent preventive against serious illness and hospitalization.
